Child Haven Counseling is founded by Katie Piura, LCSW-C. Katie has worked in different clinical settings. Every time, a child, teen, college student or caregiver, came to her therapy office, they reported experiencing an aura of peace and calmness. At times the client was going through various challenges and receiving support in therapy helped them feel safe. Katie noticed that a warm and welcoming therapeutic approach created a haven for young clients and their families leading to hope and change. Child Haven Counseling is inspired by this and hopes to continue to create a haven of hope and change for people.
Katie also saw the challenges to connect Latino (a/x) clients to therapists who shared their cultural background or spoke their language. Having the experience of being one out of few Latino (a/x) therapists in her home state, and seeing the large cultural gaps between clients and their therapist, Katie wanted to create a space for cultural inclusivity. Cultural inclusivity is a value of Child Haven Counseling and a space where clients can receive services where they feel culturally understood.
Consejerias Haven de Niños (as) es fundada por Katie Piura, LCSW-C. Katie a trabajado en diferentes clinicas. Cada vez que un joven o su padre de familia entraba a su oficina, ellos describian experimentar un aura de paz en la oficina de terapia. Muchas veces el (la) cliente (a) estaba pasando por situaciones dificiles y recibir el apoyo de consejeria le ayudaba a sentirse bien. Katie noto que un estilo de terapia, invitador y amable creaba un refujio para jovenes y familias lideando a la esperanza y cambio. Consejerias Haven de Niños (as) es inpsirado para crear esperanza y cambio en personas.
Katie tambien vio lo dificil que era conectar a clientes Latinos (as) a terapeutas que compartian su cultura o hablaran su mismo (a) idioma. Teniendo la experiencia de ser una de pocos (as) terapeutas Latinas (os) en su estado, Katie quiso crear un espacio de inclusividad cultural. Inclusividad cultural es un valor de Child Haven Counseling y un espacio donde clientes pueden recibir servicios donde se sientan cutluralmente comprendidos.
