Teen Toolbox Series

What are social-emotional coping skills?

Social-emotional coping skills are techniques used to navigate and manage emotional experiences. For teens who find it challenging to regulate their emotions, a lack of these skills can hinder their ability to build healthy relationships, solve problems effectively, and succeed in school or at home. The group will focus on learning social- emotional skills to respond to lived emotional experiences. The therapist leading the group will teach strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness skills.

The therapist will cover themes and skills that address social & emotional stressors, school, home and life stressors.

Teen Toolbox Series will help your teen to:

  • Develop the ability to manage difficult thoughts by shifting to a healthier perspective.
  • Gain skills to prevent emotions from controlling actions
  • Learn to stay present, handle stress in a healthy way, regulate emotions, and strengthen relationships.
  • Build confidence through practical strategies and self-empowerment techniques.
  • Identify strategies for healthy relationships

After this group, your teen will be able to walk away with a toolbox of skills that will help them cope with challenging emotions
